PRAÇA FREI CAETANO BRANDÃO
Place in the Cidade Velha district, perfect for seeing numerous colonial buildings such as the Casa das Onze Janelas
Formerly named Praça da Matriz, the Frei Caetano Brandão square is located in the Cidade Velha district and was at the time of the arrival of the Portuguese the place where they met the natives. The very first construction of the square was in the seventeenth century the Forte do Presépio, then the settlers began to build the city. Today, many colonial buildings can still be seen there, such as the Casa das Onze Janelas, the Catedral da Sé and the Igreja Santo Alexandre.
