PRAÇA DO RELÓGIO
Traditional marker of the ancient city of Pará housing an English-made clock, approximately 12 m high
Praça do Relógio is a traditional landmark of the ancient city of Parà. The short walk from the Ver-o-Peso market to the Praça Frei Caetano Brandão takes you past the Praça Siqueira Campos, more commonly known as the Praça do Relógio because of the English-made clock installed here, whose hands gallop from the top of the 12-metre monument in which it is embedded. Inaugurated on October 5, 1931 at exactly 8 p.m., the clock continues to tell Belém's inhabitants the exact time.
