PRAÇA DOM PEDRO II
Place with the first mango trees of Belém, preserving traces of the riches of the Empire, the age of rubber and gold in Pará
Next to Praça Frei Caetano Brandão, Praça Dom Pedro II - inaugurated in 1772 - is considered the administrative centre of old Belém, still housing the Town Hall and the Legislative Assembly of the State of Pará, and right next to it, the Palace of Justice. From here, you can also access the Museu de Arte de Belém, the Museu do Estado do Pará and the Museu do Círio de Nazaré. It was here that the first mango trees of Belém were planted. It preserves traces of the riches of the Empire and of the rubber age, the golden age of Pará.
