IGREJA DE SÃO JOSÉ DO MACAPÁ
Church of São José de Macapá, appreciated for its simplicity, with a tower and facade that have been remodelled over time
This is the oldest monument in the town of Macapá, in the state of Amapà. It was named after the city's patron saint, no doubt to attract his good graces. The church of São José de Macapá was inaugurated on March 6, 1761. The building features neoclassical architecture, a style directly inherited from the "Society of Jesus" (European Jesuits), and appreciated for its simplicity. Its side tower and façade have been remodeled over time.
