THE DERNA WATERFALL
Go there and contact
Less spectacular than that of Ras el Hilal, it is also less sustained. The Libyans come to a picnic on Friday and get caught in front of one of the country's few permanent water points. Unfortunately, the road bridge is nearby and the braided edges of the waterfall are littered with cans and detritus. 9 km further, you reach the plateau above the Wadi, closed by a oued dam, which will interest only those passionnés. On the other hand, ten kilometres of road to reach the waterfall is worth a look. It overlooks the Wadi Wadi, once planted with fertile gardens, which are now poorly maintained. From the town centre of Derna, we have to leave on its left the large modern mosque Sidi Zuhir, behind the bridge which crosses the Wadi, and take the road that runs along the south side.
