BANI KHATTAB TOMBS

It was the six tombs of the Muslim kings Bani Khattab who had taken the city as their capital. Each of the six aligned tombs is a tall 7 m tall building, with a dome and dome. Sober and frills, they are built from rubble cemented to mud and stone slabs. We do not know what the builders of these empty tombs are now empty, which was a totally new type of burial in Libya. For knowledge, the documents lack the long-standing reign of the Bani Khattab in the Fezzan. The latter belonged to a branch of the Berber tribe of the Hawarah, who emigrated to the th century of Libya in Fezzan under the leadership of Abdullah Ibn el-Khattab, after his family had been expelled from Tripoli for which she had seized a few years earlier. He and his sons founded an independent kingdom with the capital Cillala (the present Zouwayla), created in their time by the Romans. They reigned over much of the Fezzan until their defeat before the Sudanese in the th century.
