This first set presents the remains of a 17th-century fort, once home to the mother of Prince Tsogt, an intellectual whose opposition to Chinese domination is part of Mongolian history. In 1621, he wrote a famous poem, which was engraved on the surface of a rock in 1624, and has been preserved to this day. To the north-west of the ruins, you'll find an ancient watchtower. From its base, you can see the whole region at a glance, which explains why this was the place chosen to erect it.
