You are here at the sources of the Orkhon River, in an area of mountains rising from 1,700 to 2,700 meters, where steppes, forests, taiga and grasslands meet. The area has many lakes and rivers. It is one of the cradles of Mongolian culture, and its landscapes are known throughout the country. It is recognized as a national park since 1996, and follows part of the course of the Orkhon River. It is also crossed by the Tuin River, which flows south from the west of the park.
