BAGA GAZRIN CHULUU
To the northwest of Mandalgovi, in the sum of Delgertsogt, Baga Gazrin Chuluu, or "stone of the small square", is an amazing granite formation in the heart of the steppe. This elevation stands out in the middle of the flat landscape that surrounds it. Huge ochre-colored rocks form natural mazes, in which one discovers some astonishing sites, of which the ruins of an old temple nested in a valley of some meters of width. Trees covered with blue khatag shade the site. On the rocks above the temple, countless övöo (piles of stones and other materials placed there as offerings) of all sizes point to the sky.
Nearby, in the large valley, one can see a rock with a deep and narrow hole. According to the natives, the rainwater that stagnates there has the power to cure eye diseases. A small ladle with a long handle is placed on the rock, so that people can bathe their eyes with the sacred water. Four small övöo allow to locate the place.
There arenice walks in the canyon formed by the rocks. You can easily find an entrance in the labyrinth of rocks to lose yourself in this superb labyrinth. It is the occasion to make magnificent photos. With a little luck, you will be able to see the animals that inhabit the site, such as marmots, ibex and sheep. There are also more than twenty medicinal plants on site, such as sanguisorba, also called primprenelle.
