It's named after an important monastery once located some twenty kilometers from the administrative capital, where up to 10,000 monks once served. This first monastery was razed to the ground during the purges of the 1930s, and most of the monks were eliminated or returned to civilian life. Today's monastery is limited to a stone building, albeit in the shape of a ger. An interesting statue of Sakyamuni can be seen here.
