Called fire caves, they form a succession of openings in the Tsagaan Chuluut range. The mountain is sacred, and the caves, the main one of which is over 80 meters deep, are said to have been used for medicinal purposes by local shamans. Due to their proximity to the Russian border, a special permit is required to visit them. The Dadal border guard barracks is able to provide this, but no one there speaks English. It is also possible to obtain this permit in Ulaanbaatar at the Border Office.
