Built in the middle of the 19th century, around 1840, this monastery was destroyed in the 1930s, like most of the Mongolian monasteries. Very active at the time, more than 800 monks officiated there but only half of them could live directly on the spot, its seven temples being too small to accommodate them all. Today, only two small temples remain north of the city center, rebuilt in the 1990s and where about thirty monks live.
