One of the most famous devotions in honor of the Virgin Mary, with a large procession accompanied by dancers and musicians.
This festival, whose name means "May flowers" in Spanish, is one of the many devotions in honor of the Virgin Mary. It is celebrated not only in Manila, but also in many other Philippine cities. During the whole month of May, the churches and their surroundings are particularly lively, with sumptuous costume parades by top designers, and the festival ends with Santacruzan, a grand procession accompanied by dancers and musicians, which re-enacts St. Helen's quest for the Sacred Cross.
