SAINT-ANDRÉ CHURCH
Church that has kept its nave flanked by narrow aisles from the Romanesque period and its transept is topped by a dome.
The 12th-century building retains its Romanesque nave flanked by narrow aisles and a transept topped by a cupola. The choir dates from 1555, and the chapels from the 17th and 18th centuries. A semicircular apsidal chapel and bell tower were added in the 19th century. This is the winter residence of Notre-Dame-de-Vassivière, who in July takes up summer residence in the Vassivière chapel above Super-Besse. The capitals feature scenes combining biblical figures, animals and other characters from the traditional Auvergne repertoire.
