This world music festival is very popular with both locals and visitors. Launched in 1984, it aims to promote innovative or marginal musical genres such as alternative rock, traditional folk music and improvisation. Over the years, it has been able to build its own identity and attract international artists such as Cesária Évora, Youssou N'Dour and the Slovenian hard-rock group Laibach.
