This baroque palace was built from 1775 to 1781. Gabrijel Gruber, a Jesuit, architect and hydro-engineer, regulated the course of the Ljubljanica River through the canal that bears his name. The palace houses the National Archives.
Gruber introduced the braided style, visible on the window pediments and the portal with its extension in the design of the oval staircase, rococo and decorated in stucco. The private chapel is decorated with gilded stucco and murals depicting the Virgin.
