SLOVENSKA FILHARMONIJA
The Filharmonija is home to the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, founded in 1701. Ludwig van Beethoven, an honorary member, donated a copy of his Fourth Symphony (with annotations) to the Filharmonija. Haydn, Paganini and Brahms complete the quartet of illustrious members. Gustav Mahler conducted the orchestra during the 1881-1882 season as its principal conductor. Today, the Philharmonic Orchestra, which also plays in the Cankar Center on Republic Square, offers classical music concerts in this hall with its rich musical history.
