BREG - NOVI TRG
Opposite the Entjakobski most (St. James Bridge), you are in Breg, the former port of Ljubljana in Roman times. Around Novi Trg square stands the baroque palace called Lontovž, once the seat of the provincial states and home to the Academy of Sciences and Arts (Slovenska akademija znanosti in umetnosti). In the courtyard, archaeologists have uncovered tombs from the Hallstatt period (12th century BC). Charles Nodier, editor of the official Telegraph newspaper, worked on his texts in the house on the corner of Novi Trg and Breg.
