The houses in Mestni trg have been renovated over the years and are a real architectural treasure. As you walk down Mestni trg street, you will see Renaissance and Baroque style houses. Do not hesitate to cross the threshold of the buildings, to reach the courtyards with arcades, the halls, and to discover the breathtaking and majestic construction hidden from the eyes of the passer-by. Homan hiša (Homan's house) houses a café and tea house. After the earthquake of 1511, the Renaissance style completed the Gothic building. Staro župnišče, the old Baroque rectory, with its courtyard, staircase and early 19th-century facade featuring the coat of arms of Volbenk Schwarz, a wealthy burgher, is at No. 38. Rotovž, the former town hall, is located at no. 35 and has Gothic elements, a courtyard with arcades and frescoes from the 17th century. Martinova hiša (Martin's house) at no. 26 (17th century) with its Renaissance facade is integrated into the city wall. Žigonova hiša, the house of Žigon, at no. 15 (16th century), is an old merchant's house. The Plague Column was erected in 1751 as a sign of gratitude that the plague had spared the town. Stablova hiša at no. 11 (16th century) delivers its wealth of styles. Flisova hiša at no. 8 (16th century) has a Biedermeier façade. Kajbatova hiša at no. 5 is built in the 16th century with an arcaded courtyard. Originally it had only one floor.
