One of Slovenia's best-preserved Baroque monuments! The wealthy Istrian Besenghi family commissioned this palace from Filippo Dongetti of Milan, one of the most renowned architects of the time. Construction, from 1775 to 1781, was rapid. A stone lion, salvaged from an earlier building, stands at the corner of the building. The family owned over 3,000 books and manuscripts, which are still kept in the library. Today, the palace houses the music school.
