ANDRÉ VERDIER
André Verdier is a knife manufacturer based in a traditional region, the Thiers basin, in Auvergne. Combining ancestral know-how and innovative techniques, he creates chef's knives, cutlery and kitchen utensils. André Verdier was awarded the Entreprise du patrimoine vivant label in 2012.
History. The André Verdier cutlery began its modest history in a small forge workshop owned by Antoine Delignère in the first half of the 19th century. Leading to forge knives for others, he created his own brand in 1859: La Botte Couronnée. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was Jean Verdier, a blacksmith, and his wife, Françoise Delignère, who took over the cutlery business and made it flourish. Their sons, André and Albert, succeeded them at the head of a company now called "Coutellerie Verdier Frères". In 1936, André was the only manager and the family business became "Coutellerie André Verdier". He then marketed his knives under the brands Delignère, La Botte Couronnée, Andrinox and AV. In the early 1990s, the cutlery business acquired the very famous P cutlery business. Sabatier; it integrates new manufacturing processes and innovates on the famous Laguiole knives and cutlery. In 2003, it bought the Scof and Bouillet Bourdelle brands and became one of the last cutleries to manufacture 100% French.
