Side by side, Yugoslav partisan liberators and Russian soldiers. Socialist nostalgia before the quarrel with the Soviet big brother. Murska Sobota suffered the full brunt of the Nazi occupation during the Second World War, before being liberated. This monument celebrates this victory over the fascist oppressor. It was erected as early as 1945 by the Russian architect and military engineer Vladimir Aroncik. The style of construction is very symptomatic of Soviet art.
