TI'TRAIN LONTAN ASSOCIATION
We would tend to forget it, but there were not always so many cars at Réunion! Another 40 years ago, a passenger train travelled on the west coast until the coastal route was built in the general rejoicing… today, many regret the abandonment of this means of transport; Moreover, a tram-train project was bankrupt in the 2000 s before being abandoned in 2010, while other projects emerge for 2020 or 2030. As a result, the Ti'train Lontan association, chaired by Gérard Chotard, has set up a steam locomotive (classified by Historical Monuments) occasionally carrying a few passengers on the old one-metre long railway, from the Grande-Rowboat to La Possession, via an impressive tunnel. This 4,5 km journey allows, for a big half hour, to make a wonderful journey through time…
