LA CAZ DES ORANGERS

"La Caz Des Orangers" was created on September 1st 1997. At the beginning, it was a family house. Then this house became a lodging, intended to accomodate the tourists & hikers. This house remains a protected family heritage, with a creole aspect, very warm. The name "La Caz Des Orangers" was chosen to pay a tribute to my family who had a hard life in the cirque of Mafate, îlet des Orangers, (commune of Saint - Paul) & in Grande Place (commune of la Possession). They used to fetch water with buckets of paint from springs that were far from their homes. These springs were more than 100 or even 200 meters away from their houses. Halfway up the path, they would sometimes slip and have to climb again to get the precious liquid. They raised animals and planted vegetables in order to sell them in town; on the way, they crossed a river where the water reached their hip; the goods of 20 to 30 kgs were then carried on the head. The return trip was the most difficult because they had to do the shopping and go back to Mafate (rice, sugar, oil, grease etc...). Sometimes, they slept in the river because they could not cross it at night because of the current..." La caz des Orangers is located at the door of Mafate, 5 hours walk from the cirque of Mafate. It offers you its 6 comfortable and spacious rooms, with verandas and its unobstructed view on the sea and the mountain also on the city of St Paul and the Port where you can relax.

"La Caz Des Orangers" offers you seasonal room rentals, we have :

* 9 Rooms broken down in the following way:
- 6 rooms with shared sanitary facilities (2 toilets and 2 bathrooms with shower or bathtub) with a capacity of 18 persons
- 3 Rooms with integrated sanitary of a capacity of 11 persons

Jérôme also proposes you on request kreol meals and his inspirations of the traditional cooking with its vegetables of the garden and breakfast in the season of lemons, to taste the fresh lemon juice and its bananas and other fruits of season of the court.

YOUR RIDES: Free parking for guests staying at La Caz des Orangers. Car parking is 10 € / night, 2 € for the day.
