The Seema Malakaya temple was built in 1985 by the famous architect Geoffrey Bawa. This Buddhist temple is located a few meters from the shore of Lake Beira, on an artificial island reached by a wooden pontoon. It consists of a central building, an annex pavilion, a dagoba and a Bodhi Tree. The whole is really splendid. One will notice the perfect enhancement of the numerous bronze Buddhas arranged on the gangways when the site is illuminated. This place is linked to the Gangaramaya Temple which is 200 meters away.

Temple original puisqu'on y accède par un ponton, rapide à visiter, de belles photos à faire. Il est tout aussi beau à la tombée de la nuit car il est entouré de guirlandes.

To visit at the same time as Gangaramaya temple because it is not far (to get to the lake to Seema Malakaya). it is a temple-small island pleasant to visit in the morning because there are not too many people. The view and the quiet atmosphere freed by the lake take part in the charm of the place. Fine statues of Buddha for lovers.
