MOUNT LAVINIA HOTEL
Once the home of the British governor, it was the site of his secret love for Lovina, a beautiful Sri Lankan woman. A tunnel - now condemned - connected the houses of the two lovers. It is from this tumultuous relationship that the city received its name. The hotel was transformed into a hospital for David Lean's film The Bridge on theRiver Kwai. The huge building now houses 210 rooms and suites of exceptional comfort. Swimming pool on the ocean, several restaurants, bar, fitness room. A place to visit, if not to stay.
