GARDEN CITY
Cité des jardins de Champeix, with scenic gardens, plant fair and garden events.
Pailhats (terraces) follow one another, from the top of a promontory to the banks of the river. The scenic gardens around the medieval château and Marchidial chapel, supported by low drystone walls and criss-crossed by paths and staircases, are inspired by the history of gardens. Terraced gardens, they combine stone, ordinary flowers and forgotten vegetables. The Saint-Joseph garden has all the hallmarks of a congregational garden. Enclosed by high walls containing a circular pool and dovecotes, it offers a breathtaking view of the Marchidial. The gardens on the banks of the Couze, listed in the pre-inventory of parks and gardens in the Puy-de-Dôme region, form an exceptional group of private cultivated vegetable gardens, featuring original huts and former hay barns. They lead to the landscaped garden of Les Pellières, where you can enjoy a pleasant picnic. This garden is a member of the Jardins du Massif Central association.
