Located at the southeastern tip of the fort, this lighthouse is maintained by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. The original lighthouse, built in 1848 and the oldest in the country, was destroyed by a fire in 1934. It was rebuilt in 1938 and is 27 metres above sea level. It was rebuilt 300 metres from the old lighthouse on a rocky promontory, formerly occupied by the siege of Utrecht. From here, it is impossible to miss a boat entering the port of Wales. A walking path along the lighthouse leads to a small beach below.
