Located a handful of kilometers south of Unawatuna Beach, Thalpe Beach is worth a visit for its rock formations where erosion has created small natural pools. Be careful though, the waves can quickly make you lose your balance on the rocks. On Sundays, Sri Lankans come in large numbers to enjoy this original and photogenic site. If Unawatuna beach is too crowded for your taste, try Jungle Beach, to the north, as well as Delawella and Mihiripenna beaches, further south.
