The Kathaluwa Purana Viharaya is actually a complex of two small temples built at the same time, separated only by a wall. It was originally a single temple, built around 1820, but disputes led to its division. It contains superb Kandy style murals, very well preserved. The temple is often closed, you will have to ask the monk to open the door. He will be happy to give you a tour. A good idea for an excursion in this area where the sites of discovery are few
