In the 17th century, this building was the residence of the Chief Minister of the Royal Granary of Sri Lanka. In 1818, the property was acquired by the British and occupied by an officer who named it Haramby House. It was later sold to a Swiss woman, Mrs. Burdayron, who turned it into a guest house. During World War II, from 1943 to 1945, the property was the headquarters of the Southeast Asian Command. This palace is worth visiting for its 90 spacious rooms, its old-fashioned atmosphere and its opulent colonial style. Restaurant, bar, swimming pool. A beautiful address.

Hotel " old british" who had certainly its heydays. Architecture stayed interesting but it is a little damaged and cleanliness is not any more strict. Really damage.
If the England old-style ' " is loved; impériale" if you like to return hundred years behind, service and comfort, it is still possible to negotiate room rates. Except during Perahera or it is necessary to book a long time in advance. ¼ de minutes walk to the lake and the temple of the dent
