It is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva, in the Pandya architectural style. Its founder is unknown but it is thought to date from the 13th century. It is entirely made of assembled stone blocks and no mortar was used. The roof has unfortunately collapsed. The Shiva lingam is still inside the shrine. It is still worshipped by Hindus who come to perform pujas as evidenced by the presence of fresh flowers on and around the lingam. However, this temple is of little interest.
