This recent building, donated by China, was built to house the archaeological treasures found near the dagoba. It was also a celebration of the journey of the Buddhist monk Fa Hsien who stayed at the Abhayagiri monastery in 412. The monk recounted in his travel diaries that at the time of his visit, the monastery was home to 4,000 monks. The museum exhibits statues, sculptures, jewelry, pottery, decorative ornaments, etc. Every object discovered near the ruins of the monastery is now stored here.
