ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
The museum is housed in the former British administration building. It contains sacred sculptures and objects from different parts of Anuradhapura. There are showcases displaying jewellery made of crystal beads, precious stones and Chinese jade. One will also note the presence of jewels coming from exchanges with the Roman empire. This museum, which dates from 1947, exhibits a very interesting replica of the Thuparama vatadage. This model makes it possible to visualize the dagoba sheltered under a roof supported by pillars which form a circular way.
