CHARTREUSE DE PORT-SAINTE-MARIE
This major archaeological site on the history of the Carthusian monastery was founded in 1219.
The monastery was founded in 1219. For more than five centuries, the Carthusian monastery made its mark on the history of the Combrailles and Limagne regions. The monks were expelled in 1792, and the monastery fell into ruin. Since 1970, it has been restored by the association Les Amis de la Chartreuse. The perfect place for lovers of old stones! In the former cloister, from Easter to All Saints' Day, there's a play area with ancient and nature-related games, and a book box.
