TAZENAT GUR
Gour de Tazenat, maar forming a circle of 700 m in diameter and having a depth of 80 m, with clear water where to bathe.
The Gour de Tazenat is one of the most famous landscapes in the region! Forming an almost perfect circle of 700 meters in diameter, this maar, testifies today to the past volcanic activity of the northern plateau of the chaîne des Puys. About 80 meters deep, the gour is fed by surface runoff and other underground sources. Its water is clear, and you can swim in it until late in the season, but avoid swimming towards the centre of the lake, as some of the currents can be very dangerous. A 3 km hike allows you to go around the lake.
