GROTTE SAINT-VIT ET JARDIN ALPESTRE
Grotto dedicated to Saint Guy, where the people of Strasbourg were cured of their frenzy, with an alpine garden on the surrounding terraces
In 1518, the people of Strasbourg were gripped by a frenzy that drove them to dance non-stop until they were exhausted... Despite prayers and medical treatment, some began to die. They are taken by force to the grotto dedicated to Saint Guy, Vitus in Latin. There, they miraculously recovered! Since then, this place has welcomed pilgrims. On the surrounding terraces, you'll discover a superb alpine garden and the remains of an ancient chapel with a breathtaking view.
