METROVIAS
Inaugurated in 1913, the Buenos Aires metro(el subte) was the first of its kind in Latin America. Lines A, B, D and E run parallel through the city center and its adjoining barrios from east to west. Line C intersects them at a perpendicular roughly corresponding to Avenida 9 de Julio. Line H, which runs parallel to line C, connects lines A, B, D and E without having to go back through the center. The construction of three additional lines was approved by the local authorities, but by the end of 2024, work had still not begun.
