TRANVÍA DEL ESTE - CELERIS
The tranvía del Este, also known as "Puerto Madero de Puerto Madero", is a tramway opened in July 2007 which crossed the Puerto Madero area in a straight line on only 16 cuadras (2,1 km) and 4 stations along Alicia Moreau de Justo Avenue from Córdoba to Independencia. The former Alstom wagons of the city of Mulhouse were to link more strategic points, rolling from the Retiro bus terminal to the tourist Caminito of la Boca and to the Gares and Buenos Aires stations. This good idea to put tramways in Buenos Aires (the city counted more than 3 000 in the 1920 s!) was a fiasco: only 25 passengers per hour for a maintenance cost of $ 900 000 CDN monthly… The line ceased to operate in October 2012.
