The Cervantes Theatre (also known as the TNC) was inaugurated in 1921. It is the home of Argentina's Comédie Nationale, founded in 1936 on the model of the Comédie Française. The building, rebuilt after the great fire of 1961, houses four theaters and is a veritable public institution. As well as being a drama school, it is a theater in its own right, offering revisited classical works (performances of Shakespeare, adaptation of Oedipus Rex, etc.).
