After being ousted from Africa in 2008, the Dakar found a new home in 2009: South America, and more specifically Argentina and Chile. In the first South American editions, the drivers covered 9,000 km (including 4,800 km of special stages) to form a big loop between Buenos Aires, the Pacific coast of Chile and Buenos Aires. Make sure you find out exactly where you start and finish, as the route changes every year and crosses other countries (Chile, Peru...).
