CORRIENTES
Corrientes is a province in Argentina, between the Uruguay River to the east and the Paraná River to the west and north. Its capital is the city of Corrientes. The province is known for its geography rich in forests and marshes, and was one of the founding provinces of the Argentine Confederation. Corrientes offers many tourist activities throughout the year, including the carnival, which takes place in over twenty localities, and the chamamé, a folk music genre typical of the region, which is played at the Cocomarola Amphitheatre and on the Pexoa Bridge. Fishing enthusiasts can also enjoy the magnificent pacú, dorado and surubí fishing tournaments in the waters of the Paraná and Uruguay rivers. The province is also known for its agricultural activities, notably the production of tobacco, rice, yerba mate and tea. Visitors can also discover nature at the Iberá National Park and the Mburucuyá National Park.
