LA BOMBONERA - MUSEO DE LA PASIÓN BOQUENSE
Soccer club, featuring a 360° cinema, numerous players and a tour of the Bombonera stadium
Find out all about La Boca's true passion: Club Atlético Boca Juniors. Founded in April 1905 by Genoese immigrants and a 32-time Argentine champion, the club adopted its famous yellow and blue colors when a manager spotted a Swedish flag on a ship in the port of La Boca. Their historic rivals are C.A. River Plate, Argentina's other most popular and successful club. The clashes give rise to the "Superclásico", a match of unrivalled commitment. Such is Boca Juniors ' passion that 40% of fans in Argentina support the club! Many players have played for the club, starting with the most famous of them all, Diego Armando Maradona. There's also Martín Palermo, the club's all-time top scorer with 236 goals, artist Juan Román Riquelme (idol no. 1 among Xeneize fans!), whimsical striker Claudio Caniggia, Carlos Tévez and goleador Gabriel Batistuta. The museum's program includes a tour of the Bombonera stadium (currently suspended), videos recounting the history of the club in its blue and yellow colors, computers displaying statistical data, a mural of Maradona, a 360° cinema... a unique way to discover one of the world's most famous soccer stadiums. On the way out, you'll find a number of stores, less expensive than the official one, decorated with statues of two of the club's most popular footballers: Diego Maradona and Carlos Tévez.
