MUSEO LA BOTICA DEL ANGEL
A discovery this year and, what's more, a favorite! It's kitsch and yet we love this Ali Baba cave which shows a good overview of the Argentine artistic world during the 20th century. The late Eduardo Bergara Leumann, a multifaceted artist, left countless cultural references in his house. Draftsman, theatre and film actor, set designer and costume designer, he was also the famous animator of the successful programme La Botica del Tango, where he welcomed national personalities. Before being a house, this artistic space was the temple and the obligatory passage of the artists of the 1960s. The walls are lined with photographs and manuscripts of the greatest of this country (Borges, Sabato, Gardel...), poems, dedications, paintings and other works of art. Eccentric to say the least, we can feel the fervour that inhabited the place and the artistic freedom of each of its famous visitors, from famous singers to writers, theatre actors and dancers. Indeed, La Botica del Angel was the place of endless nights, based on artistic improvisations, wild dances, fiery debates and avant-garde shows. An ode to the city, an ode to the joy stirred by melancholy and memories. But in 1973, the widening of Avenida 9 de julio forced Botica del Angel, originally located at 670 Lima Street, to close and move. It took nearly 25 years for Eduardo Bergara Leuman to decide to open this temple, this "house-museum" which still celebrates the madness of the greatness of the time after his death, on his 76th birthday in 2008. Declared a Cultural Heritage Site of the City, this museum is a real cabinet of curiosities that keeps warm a cultural heritage as immense as it is eccentric. A special visit that is well worth its weight in gold
