PLAZA FRANCIA
Square in Buenos Aires, featuring a sculpture depicting scenes from the revolutions in France and Argentina.
Conceived by the French landscape architect Charles Thays and inaugurated in 1909, the Plaza Francia is characterized by the presence in the centre of a sculpture, El Monumento de Francia a la Argentina, designed by the French artist Emile Peynot, inaugurated on the occasion of the centenary of the Revolution. The sculpture depicts scenes from the revolutions carried out in France and Argentina, such as the taking of the Bastille or the Primera Junta (the first Assembly). This monument represents progress through four symbols: industry, arts, agriculture and science.
