COSTANERA ON
Popular turn-of-the-century promenade in the Río de la Plata, home to numerous restaurants and brasseries
La Costanera Sur was a popular walk at the beginning of the last century when the inhabitants used to bathe in the Río de la Plata. In the 1920s, many restaurants and brasseries were located along the promenade. After a few decades of decay, La Costanera regained its appeal with the creation of the Ecological Reserve in the 1970s and the rehabilitation of the Puerto Madero neighborhood in the 1990s. The latest attraction is the Paseo de la Gloria, a succession of statues honouring Argentina's greatest sportsmen and women.
