PALACIO SAN JOSÉ
The finest example of a patrician residence, housing a well-kept museum with attractive patios
This is the finest example of a 19th century patrician residence. Residence of General Justo José de Urquiza, the main federalist figure in the economic and political development of Entre Ríos until his assassination in 1870. A very well-maintained museum with pink walls and pretty patios, which through its furniture and paintings tells the story of provincial Argentina in the 19th century, especially the small civil war it waged (and lost) against the Unitary. Today Argentina is still a federal republic that has escaped a centralized system.
