Since 2011, June 20 is a national holiday. The "Día de la Bandera" is a singular day scheduled for the commemoration of the Argentine flag and its creation, on February 27, 1812, by Manuel Belgrano, a hero of the War of Independence who died on June 20, 1920. The main seat of this ceremony, mainly military, is in Rosario, in the province of Santa Fe, where a huge parade with the colors of the country is organized. Numerous speeches also punctuate the day in front of the Monumento Histórico Nacional in La Bandera.
