CATEDRAL DE PARANÁ
Cathedral of Bajada del Paraná, a national historic heritage site with an Italian neoclassical façade
The construction of the present structure, classified as a National Historic Heritage Site, began in 1883, on the site of the parish church of Bajada del Paraná, built in 1730. The façade clearly evokes an Italian neoclassical style, with Byzantine reminiscences in the domes of the towers. The interior resembles a basilica, with three naves; the stained glass windows of the main dome were imported from France. Entering on the left, a work depicts Therese of Lisieux, and just underneath a gilded funerary urn contains relics of the saint.
