SUBFLUVIAL TUNNEL
2,937 m-long tunnel under the riverbed, facilitating transport and communications between Entre Ríos and Santa Fe
This tunnel, which links the cities of Paraná and Santa Fe, was inaugurated in 1969 and is 2,937 m long. The history of its construction is a good illustration of how the Argentine provinces sometimes try to do without state services. The two provinces of Entre Ríos and Santa Fe were looking for a way to facilitate transport and communications between them. At first we thought of a bridge, but the state owns the rivers, and the rents would have come back to it. That's how the idea of building a track under the riverbed was born.
